Nalabana island

The bird season for this 600-1100 sq km lake had not yet started but we did see a few, with large groups quiet in the distance. One has to apparently get permission from Bhubaneswar to approach any closer. Fair enough. The fibre boat was rather costly at 500 Rs per hour.

Kalijai island and temple

This place is more frequented than Nalabana. People believe that a newly married (or to be married) girl had died here on her way to her in-laws. 14th Jan sees a big mela here.
