The 2005 LA county Math field day was well conducted at the Torrence High School. Several dozens of teams from 4th through 8th grade participated. Since this competition does not lead to a higher level competition, they do not declare overall grades. Instead, they give medals to the top performing teams in each of the five areas; reasoning, number sense, algebra, geometry, and statistics. Jay's team (made of Alex, Anton and Emma besides himself) won medals in all categories. The other three 5th grade teams that got medals in all five were: Palos Verdes, Burbank, and Walnut Valley.
