Yosemite National Park

(Take me to the slide show)

We visited there on Aug 13-15 2003, and here is a sampling of the photographs. Click to enlarge.

Bridalveil Falls

The volume of water has obviously gone down, but the wind clearly shows why this waterfall is so called.

Vernal Falls

This is after the first 0.8 miles of the Join Muir trail which extends for 211 miles going all the way to Mt. Whitney.

Curry Village

We stayed in a cabin-tent with 600 other cabins. Nice location, but even for weekdays it was rather crowded.

Yosemite Falls

This three-tier fall was also in its waning phase. Pictures are of the lower falls. We hiked from there to the Yosemite village (just over 1 mile). A tree with branches only on one side is seen - most likely due to water flow.

Yosemite Village Meadow (to be panorama)

Need to make a panorama or two out of these pictures depicting the beautiful meadows.

From The Sentinal Bridge

This bridge is between Yosemite village and Curry village.

Effects of 1989 fire are still seen

New trees are soon covering the landscape though. Recent management fires indicate that they are not allowing the forests to get overthick now.

Olmstead Point

This is the other side of half dome. A UFO cloud is seen.

Toulmne Meadows

We are at 8K feet now.

Tioga Pass

And now at 10K feet. Several lakes are visible from here and after a hike higher up. Need to crop some of these photographs to make them look panoramic.

Hetch-Hitchy Reservoir

Provides water to SFO. Expansive and beautiful. Has a camping ground and the route through Satnislaus National Forest isbery scenic. Hikes start after pasisng through the tunnel.

Vistas and sunset en route SFO

Rim of the world, Don Pedro reservoir, and sunset colors captured by Anu from a car making 60mph. Long live sports mode of olympus.

Near Torvi Residence

Just filling up the card.

Wild Life

Yosemite NP

Deer, Chipmunk, Squirrel, lizard, Stellars Jay, Sapsucker.

Santa Barbara

Sandpiper, Killdeer, Gull.

SFO

Golden Gate is clouded. Views from Hawk Hill and some downtown buildings snapped from the car.

Pfiffer Big Sur State Park

Pfiffer falls, and Valley view. Would be much better in May-Jul. Point Sur is seen.

Big Sur Coastal Views

Amazing (but long) drive.

Morro Bay

Not as spectacular as I had imagined.

Santa Barbara

Nice as usual, a necessary stop when traffic hits you.
